BIOS problems because of new CPU

I can't get into my BIOS settings anymore. When I turn on the computer, I can't even see a thing until the Windows logo screen appears! I don't even see the the thing go through the bootup! I no longer see the option to press DEL to get into the BIOS. All, I did was try to install a different CPU. Now, this occurs even when I put the old CPU in there. Anyone know what the deal is???

Check the jumpers on the motherboard. You might have changed one of them.

The problem is, I have a jumperless mobo (Abit BP6). The settings for the jumpers are set in the BIOS which I can't get to. I need to find a nice big hammer and wack the F out of the computer. This is HELL!

Even the "jumperless" motherboards usually have a BIOS reset jumper somewhere. Try shorting the jumper, which should reset your BIOS to all the default settings when you boot up.

That's the only idea I can come up with.

Good Luck!

My motherboard (Abit BP6) uses jumpers that are built into the BIOS. Basically the mobo is for the most part, jumperless. I searched through my motherboard manual to see if I could find a jumper on the motherboard to reset all the BIOS settings, but all I could find is the CCMOS jumper used to clear the CMOS. Would this be the equivalent of resetting the BIOS back to default?

It appears that the monitor is asleep even when I turn the computer on. It doesn't wake up until Windows comes on. This is causing me to not be able to get into the BIOS. I have tried everythig. Even phoned Abit Tech Support and they have not returned my phone calls. 🙁

CCMOS is the right jumper! Make sure that you power-off (you might even want to disconnect the power cord)before you reset the jumper. Power back up and the BIOS should be reset to defaults.

Let me know how it works out for you.

Good Luck.

my trick is to turn the monitor on and off several times before starting the computer, this way the monitor is allready warmed up and will display starting with video card bios info. or you could just repeatedly hit delete during boot but not hold it until your monitor warms up to make sure you get it
