Hi everyone.
I have rather old 2007 computer set. While saving money for full upgrade, I decided to buy some RAM. Currently, I have two planks of Patriot PSD21G8002 and I have bought two planks of Kingmax FLFE85F-B6HY9 HPE (2Gb each, 1333 mHz). My board is Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R rev 1.1. Seller said he checked compatibility and everything should work fine. Before installing new planks, I've read a few articles on installing new RAM and made some basic preparations: BIOS defaulting (by extracting battery for 20 mins, no jumper on this board model), disconnecting power cable, etc. Checked motherboards Memory Support List on site - there are no sign of both old and new memory planks. Cleaned memory slots (in case they rusted over these ~7 years), installed planks, but got stuck on black screen. No looping reboots, no BIOS beeps. Thought I've cleaned slots not to well and tried to install old planks in other DDR2 slots (board has four DDR2 slots and two DDR3) without cleaining the slots - they work correctly just like first ones. Asked for help on other forums, but everyone was telling me that it's either bad planks or something that I've already tried. Only after this (yeah, kinda late ignition) I discovered article about manual changing of BIOS settings, like voltage, latency and frequency.
So, the questions: should I try changing these settings manually? are there any other solutions for this?
Not very familiar with BIOS customizing, so it would be great to get exact instructions.
Now, on timings, frequency and latency:
New planks traits (read on site):
CAS 9
RAS to CAS 9
Row Precharge Delay 9
Voltage 1.5
Current BIOS settings (latest, F12, version):
Memory Frequency (Mhz) 800 800
CAS Latency Time 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay 5
DRAM RAS# Precharge 5
Precharge delay (tRAS) 16
On voltage I was able to find only
DDR2/DDR3 OverVoltage Control [Normal]
Can provide any additional info if needed.
P.S. I'm not native English speaker so, please, go easy on technical terms = )
