Hi there,
Recently I've added 2 new RAM sticks but this prevented me from booting off USB to install new system, even though I removed the 2 extra RAM sticks I couldn't boot (it would get stuck at BIOS Splash screen), without an option to do anything apart from restarting the computer. The USB would boot fine if I removed the extra RAM before.
So I decided to reset CMOS, I went and taken out the battery, rebooted, it asked if I want to load default so yeah I did, I went into the BIOS and turned off on-board graphics (I thought the USB boot issue is due to insufficient power, perhaps the USB draws too much power). I rebooted the PC and that's it, freeze at gigabyte splash screen (this is where it asks to press DEL, F12 etc but doesn't actually register any of the input except numlock/capslock/screenlock (it also has slight delay when I press these buttons).
Usually when I had the BIOS splash screen freeze I'd take out the extra RAM and it would boot fine but now it doesn't even boot in any combination, even 1 RAM stick doesn't do the job.
I've tested different PSU, hard drive, disconnected DVD, used only 1 RAM stick in every slot available, re-seated the CPU.
Could this be due to both BIOS being corrupted?
They told me my warranty is now past (I thought it's 3 years but apparently not). I searched for new mobos but it's hard to get anything for socket LGA1150 and if there's any it's around £240...
