My bios displays 55° for my cpu (not even booted windows), but in windows every software tells me at idle its about 34 and under full load 70° that just doesn't make sense to me. So who is false and is 55° in bios to high? Idk how hard it raises since i can only look up bios not booted

I have the intel i7 7700k 4x4.2 ghz
And the noctua nh-u9s tower cooler

DrHerbst,

CPU temperature in BIOS is higher than in Windows at idle, because BIOS boots the processor without power saving features and at higher Core voltages to ensure that it will initialize under any conditions.

Here's the operating range for Core temperature:

Core temperatures above 85°C aren't recommended.

Core temperatures increase and decrease with Ambient temperature.

Highest Core temperatures occur during stress tests, rendering or transcoding, but are lower during less processor intensive workloads such as applications and gaming. Core temperatures vary greatly between games as CPU workloads differ. Idle temperatures below 25°C are generally due to Ambient...
