Hello friends, i need your help.
I have an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard with AMD FX-8320 cpu. Using windows 7 64bit.
I recently saw that i had M5A97 R2.0 LE Bios (2103 version) installed which i thought those where for a different type of MOBO so i wanted to install the latest "proper ones" (2603 version)
Little i did know ...
Before this "update" my PC was running perfectly and now i keep getting blue screen of death after 2 seconds in windows (saying something about asmtxhci.sys )
I changed the CMOS jumper from pin 1-2 to pin 2-3 for 5 seconds and then placed it back to its original pin 1-2.
Is there any safe way to rollback to the bios i had (version 2103 ~ year 2013) that was perfect for my PC ?
I also noticed that in the Advanced settings, the AI TWEAKER (or something) tab (the one showing the RAM settings, which all are on AUTO) is FREEZING and i have to reset through the front button.
I can access ANYTHING in UEFI bios, EXCEPT that AI TWEAKER tab causing freezing after this fail "update" i did to the bios 🙁
Help me folks, god bless.

P.S. i also got this in safe mode.

same thing again , blue screen <asmtxchi.sys>

I believe it has to be a program or the bios messing with hardware and not hardware alone.
Everything was running smooth before i update the BIOS,
and that freezing in bios Ai Tweak tab is very weird.

asmtxchi.sys=Asmedia USB 3.0 driver
BCP1: 00000000C0000005 means a bad memory address was given to the driver. The driver can not continue and process the bad address so it shutdown the computer.

I would remove all of your devices from the USB 3 port and put them on a usb 2 port
then update the BIOS and the asmedia usb 3 driver from your motherboards vendors website.
(bios update is often required because it sets up the electronics for the USB ports and the driver and the BIOS must be using the same technical specs (the specs change over time))

I would remove any asus utilities (any special applecharger usb driver, and any special asus filter driver, old versions have bugs and the apple charger driver overrides correct current limits)

hello John, thank you for your response.
All the devices i'm using are connected to USB 2.0 ports.
The USB 3.0 ports are always free.

I noticed that the blue screen comes in normal mode when the skype is going login.
I'm currently in safe mode and trying to uninstall some programs and install the Asmedia usb 3 driver but i get this error:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I will try a windows memory check / repair as Ironsounds mentioned above.

I had 2013 bios and as soon i updated to 2015 version i keep getting this blue screen of death. Before the update everything was just fine.
The only "bug" i notice in the uefi bios now is this "freezing" in Ai Tweak tab, in advanced mode. Which didn't happen before.

Plus the temperature and high CPU usage when idle.

All these problems cuz of the bios update.

If i do a clean install of the windows(format), are the bios going back to their manufacturer version ?
Or is it goint to be in vain ?
Any way to "downgrade" bios or "rollback" the version worked perfectly ?

put the actual memory dump files from c:\windows\minidump directory on a cloud server like microsoft onedrive, share the files for public access and post a link.

if it is a USB problem, you will have to change the memory dump type to kernel memory dump and then post the larger c:\windows\memory.dmp file. (it will contain debug info on the USB system)

Problem with the USB system if you plug something in, then plug and play will load a driver, when you remove the device, windows only hides the drives the driver rather than removing it. IE bad drivers still can mess up the USB ports even after the device is removed. In this case you would have to unhide unused hardware and remove the device driver.

Also, when you update the BIOS you have to update the USB drivers (kind of depends on the dates and therir relation to USB specification changes, but it is a good practice to update CPU chipset and USB driver and sata driver when you do a bios update.)

also I think the driver in question might be controlled by a BIOS setting in the USB section.
IE you might be able to disable the USB3 hardware or the usb extensions in the BIOS until you get the drivers to match up with the BIOS versions.

in c:\windows , the minidump file is empty and there is no memory.dmp file

Installed the latest Asmedia USB3 for my Motherboard.

"update the CPU chipset" ? is there a driver for the CPU i need to download/update ?

some usb problems will place a different memory dump in a different directory.
you can start cmd.exe as an admin
then
cd c:\
dir /s *.dmp
(this will search your drive for dump files)

my wifes machine has a bug in the actual USB chips on her motherboard, it causes a app to crash and a automated process debugs it, detects that the USB ports are not responding and it reports it to microsoft and reboots the machine without the normal bugcheck. I assume this is related to her opt in to the windows error reporting. (she gets fixes pushed to her machine also, I just check for fixes myself)

USB 3.0 Boost
or Extreme USB 3.0 Transfer Speed

before usb standards were finalize the vendor decided to sell more boards by using there own specs.
Then the standards became updated in 2013 and there faster speed USB ports and drivers became obsolete.
I am guessing people update to windows 10 and windows 10 used the newer standards so asus had to change the BIOS to use the new standards.
In this case, they would have to update the BIOS and provide new drivers for all supported windows platforms.

I would try and reset the current bios to defaults and see if you can get into the option to run off the USB 3 extensions or ports.
You might roll back the BIOS if you have to for windows 7.

This is what i wanna try. How can i do it ? 🙁
To clear/reset the BIOS back to manufacturer's version or something

you can look for a option to set it back to defaults on the currently installed BIOS version.
or you can download a old BIOS version from the vendor and try to install it via USB thumb drive. Ie use the BIOS update feature but point it to the old BIOS version. (assuming you can update from BIOS it has been a while since I tried)

on my asus machine, in bios under advanced options, tool menu there is something like
ASUS ez flash utility. that would let me change the BIOS if windows will not boot.
