[SOLVED] Bios update gone wrong

Where do I start, so my pc build is here https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Viet2k1/saved/#view=nD2wzy
My computer has been turning off everytime I play games, and I think its a power supply issue, but my major concern is that my PC now turns on and off. I attempted to update my BIOS, which led to the pc completely turning off. I tried to press the power button, and the LED lights would turn on, but my monitor and keyboard would not turn on. The monitor received no input. I then unplugged everything, removed the CMOS battery, and then put it back in and plugged everything back in. At this point, whenever I turn the pc on, the LED turns on, and the fans spin, but then the pc turns off after a short period of time. For anyone reading, thanks and what should I do?

Solution
I haven't tried replacing the GPU yet, but I updated the bios to version 5407, which I think is the latest one.
5407 doesn't state what it's AGESA is but I think it's 1003abba which I'm pretty sure is good for Ryzen 3000 only. The 'grand unification' AGESA is 1004b, supposedly good for all Ryzen generations. Not seen any B350 BIOS' with a 1004b either.

Either way, I think you have a BIOS problem. If you can get hold of a Ryzen 3000 CPU it might be able to boot. But then it might not so probably not worth the risk buying one unless you're willing to take the next step and get an X570 motherboard should it not boot up either.

I'd try the Asus tech support route to get a warranty return first.

Yes, that power supply is not sufficient for a dedicated GPU. it should be replaced ASAP. You could have reset the bios to the point that it is not compatible with the 2700x, or maybe updated it to the point it can't work with the 2700x. This is the issue with the board supporting 3 generations of CPU. You can only use certain bios with a 2700x.

Hate to, but it has to be said...if you suspect your PSU is flaky you should never attempt a BIOS update.

You might try an older GPU if you have one, preferably a low power consuming one without a supplemental PCIe power requirement. That might let you get into BIOS at least if it's the PSU. But the symptoms are pretty typical of a failed BIOS update. You might contact Asus and see about an RMA. They might fix it up for you if it's still under warranty.

Also: what BIOS did you attempt update to? If it was a BIOS for Zen2 support it might not work with your 2700.

Would the mismatched RAM sticks cause an issue also?
Could but I feel you should be able to get into BIOS at least since you did a CMOS reset. That's when it will boot RAM at the lowest default DDR4 clocks for maximum compatibility so matched DIMM's are less important.

Still, try just one at a time in each DIMM socket. And be sure they're fully inserted.

So I tried removing a stick of ram and then doing a CMOS reset. The fans and led turn on, but that is it. The pc doesn't seem to be turning off anymore, so I guess that's progress lol.

I took a quick look at the updates for each bios, and I did see that Gen 4 support was removed for Ryzen 3000 CPUs but nothing about the 2700x.

You shouldn't be using the LATEST bios, but the LAST bios for 2000 cpus, there is a difference. A lot of 1st/2ndGen info has been removed from 3rd gen bios in order to make room on the older/cheaper mobo's using the old 64k bios chips. The newer 128k chips don't have that issue. So if you just threw in the LATEST bios, you've not only skipped some necessary updates and media files, but also installed a 3rd gen bios that may or may not have been chopped for 2nd Gen usage.

Version 46022019/04/0410.15 MBytes

PRIME B350-PLUS BIOS 4602
Update AGESA 0072 for the upcoming processors.
ASUS strongly recommends that you update AMD chipset driver 18.50.16 or later before updating
-------
Version 50072019/07/0110.16 MBytes

PRIME B350-PLUS BIOS 5007
Update new AGESA to improve compatibility;
Recommend updating the BIOS via EZ Flash.
-------
Version 52042019/08/0710.18 MBytes

PRIME B350-PLUS BIOS 5204
Update AGESA 1.0.0.3 Patch AB to improve compatibility;
Recommend updating the BIOS via EZ Flash.
-------
You skipped a few steps.

4602 adds cpu support for 2000 series cpus, based on media files and driver versions etc. Without the files first, you have a 2ndGen bios trying to run on 1stGen info. AGESA.
5007 adds AGESA patch to existing AGESA, doesn't contain the full AGESA unless it's OEM
5204 adds update to the 5007 AGESA patch. Still doesn't contain the full AGESA, only an update for the prior patch.

The latest bios is specifically for Ryzen 3000 series. Most boards specifically say not to upgrade to that version if you ARE NOT using a Ryzen 3000 series CPU. I think the update went just fine, you just made your board incompatible with your CPU.

I have a small brain, what should I do now? Do I try to install an older bios update and if so, which one?
