[SOLVED] bios update

my pc is a lenovo m91p .... intel i7 with a 250gb ssd i need to flash bios to update it but in all my pc knowledge (quite little) idont know how..... dell had 1 exe and boom.. done... lenovo has a dos command i need to type in... so if you will just tell me the command ill be happily out of your hair...

Expand list and download USB drive flash package. 2.16MB.

Extract contents to formatted Fat32 USB drive, boot the computer with it. Follow prompts to update, shouldn't need to do anything else command wise.

  • 1. Please make note of any settings you have changed in the BIOS *
  • Setup utility. They may have to be re-entered after updating *
  • the BIOS. *
  • 2. Use the flash update program by putting it in a DOS bootable *
  • memory key, or creating a CD with the ISO image. Power up the *
  • system and make sure the device with the flash program is *
  • selected as a boot device. *
  • 3. The current BIOS level on the computer is compared to that of *
  • the flash update. If the levels are the same, or the level on *
  • the update is older than the ROM, a message is displayed stating *
  • "BIOS ROM file is older than (or same as) BIOS ROM image. *
  • Continue anyway? (y/n)", type in 'y'. *
  • 4. Update may take up to 2 minutes. Do not power off or restart the *
  • system during this procedure! *
  • 5. After the flash update is complete, system will automatically *
  • reboot. Don't forget to remove the flash device or you may be *
  • got your BIOS re-updated.

tried that it didnt boot from the usb

Can try cd method. Make sure usb is formatted fat32, copy contents over no folders, only root directory. Bios doesn't look in folders. Use only usb2 port to boot from, usb3 if there are won't work.

have to use UNEbootin because rufus sais the iso isnt bootable

usb stick failed again as expected... burning the iso to a cd and booting from it also failed

managed to install an old Radeon... 5450... it isnt much but it will suffice
