Reminds me of the article I read about the new Yahoo CEO. She made the point that people don't get burned out because of work. People get burned out because of resentment.

Great points.

I bet these two have a huge amount of burnout caused by RESENTMENT. Resentment at EA no doubt.

EA is a crap corporation and destroys every decent thing it purchases.

I thought the first game they made was one of the best I ever played. Baulders Gate, then followed by Icewind Dale, then BG2, and Icewind dale 2. I also really liked the neverwinter nights games.

Let's all give a slow clap for EA. They've struck again. They've drained the willpower and smothered another set of idea people. This has happened time after time when EA acquires a company like Bioware. I bet there's a no compete clause in their contracts with EA that makes sure they stay out of the video games industry for a long time to come. What a sad day.

Screw you, EA.

From what I remember reading, both got into the games industry because they loved games. With EA above and hordes of angry fans below (ME3, DA2, and even ME2 to a point), it's pretty likely that there isn't much enjoyment left so I don't blame them at all for leaving.

Thanks Greg & Ray for some truly wonderful games, and good luck!

Have all of them still and love them.

[citation][nom]Nightsilver[/nom]I'd resign too if I had full license to use the Star Wars IP to build an MMO and drove it right into a tree.[/citation]

Thats the weird thing about SWTOR---its almost like it was conceived entirely as KOTOR3 (offline RPG), then somebody stepped in and said "make it an MMO!". It just doesnt FEEL like the storylines benefit at all from multiple players, and the PVP could have been a completely separate game for all the influence it has on the storyline portion.

I paid for six months beyond the original price, but honestly, I dont plan on playing any longer than that, unless some kickass storylines appear for my level 50 characters (i have 4 right now). Like many, I'm treating it as KOTOR3/RPG, not a persistent subscription MMORPG.

I've never really understood the backlash at ME2. I think its easily the best of the series, the storyline was much more moving than the first, IMHO, and it seemed somehow fuller, more fleshed out than the original. I'd probably rank them 1. ME2 2. ME 3. ME3. I really liked 3, but it just seemed too short, even with playing all of the side quests, and unlike many I didnt really find the ending devastatingly bad.

Retiring while the name Bio Ware means anything - I can really respect their decision. With EA's track record its only a matter of time before EA ruins the name just like they have with all the studios / franchises they touch!

Most of the 'side quests' in ME3 were fetch quests, not very interesting. Also, ME3 probably felt shorter because while it had more dialogue lines, most of them were auto dialogue and you didn't have to think much before choosing between 2 options.

Man, I love the company that Bioware used to be. Baldur's Gate 2 was the first PC game I purchased as an adult to play on my first PC purchased as an adult. Because I suck at games, it took me 6 years to finish BG2, and that was with the console cheats enabled, but to this day, each time I build a new system, BG2 is always the first game I install to test with. R.I.P. Bioware.
