Solution
Forget about the disc that came with the card, and get the drivers from the NVidia website. So use DDU to remove the current drivers, you'll need to do it in safemode. Then go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx put in the card details and your OS and download the latest drivers and install.

By "uninstalling the old gpu" do you mean taking the card out, or did you uninstall the old drivers too?

If you didn't remove the drivers, either put the old card back in, or boot into safemode and remove the old display drivers, I recommend using DDU. Once the old drivers are gone the new card should be able to display your desktop but only in low resolution. This is when you install the new drivers, best to download the latest version direct from the NVidia website.

Ive uninstalled the gpu drivers already before plugging it out, then restart
And then plug the new gpu as youve said in low resolution and then install the driver from a disc bought with the gpu then after installing the computer asks me to restart and then after booting the screen is black
