TL;DR version: I had a similar problem, updating the BIOS fixed it.

Long version:

Bought a new video card, replaced the old card with it, powered on the computer and no video signal was sent to the monitor.
I googled the problem for several days, read many forums, etc, none of the solutions worked.
I suspected that the card is probably dead and was about to give up when I got an idea from somewhere to try updating the BIOS.

As I couldn't even access BIOS with the new card (nothing would appear on the monitor at all), I had to take it out and put my old card in temporarily. I went to the motherboard manufacturer's website (MSI in my case), looked up my model and followed the instructions there.

After updating the BIOS, the new video...
Wrong.

If you have not used a Pci-e based graphics card in the system in any way.

And have always used the on board video solution of the motherboard via the video ports on it there are a few things you must do first to get a video signal from the Pci-e based graphics card you just fitted to the Pci-e slot of the motherboard.

The first is to go into the bios of the motherboard.
Look for the option in the bios for selection or initialization of the primary display device.

Set the option to Pci-e or Peg mode.

If there is an option to disable Apu, IGPFX then disable it.

Save the settings before you exit the bios.

Make sure that the video monitor lead cable is connected to the video output ports of the Nvidia gt 620 card.

When windows loads you should then get a display picture on the monitor screen from that video card.

Next un install any video drivers from windows that relate to a ATI , Amd graphics or video driver install via add remove programs of windows.

Restart the system.
Once windows has reloaded.

Install the video driver for the Nvida GT 620 card in the system from the supplied dvd disk with the driver on it.
Or go to www.Nvidia.com to get the latest video driver version for your GT 620 Pci-e video card.

Have you gone into bios and set graphics to run from PCIe and not IGPU

Nope I haven't done that yet what menu do I have to go into?
(In the Bios)

Probably in the advanced menu, Look for the option in the bios for selection or initialization of the primary display device.

Set the option to Pci-e or Peg mode.

Ok so I set it to peg mode in bios but... my apu is still working, The fans go on when the gpu goes on though

Its not working Help

After updating the BIOS, the new video card worked fine.

I'm guessing the issue was that my motherboard had a PCIe 2.x slot and the card was PCIe 3.x.
Although these PCIe versions are compatible, the old BIOS version probably did not recognize the new standard, while the update added support for it.
