I recently bought a Ryzen 5 5600x to replace the Ryzen 5 1500x in my wife's computer. Ever since the install the computer will stay on, but only shows a black screen with nothing else. The motherboard is an ASRock Fatal1ty X370 gaming itx/ac. I upgraded to the bios version that the ASRock site recommended (7.20) before installing the CPU. After the install it will just go to the black screen. I have also reset the CMOS between each install. The original CPU still works in the system without issue. I even went so far as to return the 5600x and buy another 5600x, just in case the CPU itself was broken. It still does the same thing. I can't figure out why it won't post

All conditions are correct then. The splash screen showing implies the mobo is okay with the new CPU.

With the new CPU installed, press your hand on your keyboard holding several keys down. Then power on. Intent is to trigger a keyboard error to force you into the BI
It only shows for a split second and I can't seem to get anywhere with it.

Also it shows it once then not again

I can't get in it seems. The splash screen only appears once, on the first boot after installing the new CPU. Then never again. And it only appears for a split second. Even constantly tapping the proper key before it even appears does nothing. Am I somehow failing to reset the bios? Wouldn't unplugging the CMOS battery do it? Or using the cmos jumper on the board? Both appear to do nothing

Verify that both the 8-pin and 24-pin power connections from the PSU and firmly attached to the motherboard sockets.

Also, verify that your memory is fully seated. Have your tried booting the system with only one stick of memory installed?

Unfortunately I only have one stick of memory on the system, and no others available. But the system still boots just fine with the previous CPU installed. It still only has this issue with the 5600x.

Understood. Just grasping for straws now.

What storage device(s) does this system have installed?

Will the system boot into the BIOS with them removed/disconnected?

I'll have to check. Currently having to step away from it. I'm pretty much out of ideas. Thinking I might need to replace the motherboard
