Black Screen Help

Hey guys. Not good at all with computers ihave a Toshiba L850. Was working perfectly fine 2days ago then screen went funny colour now not working. Shutdown and tried again lights turn on ican hear the fan turning but will not boot up. Tried another monitor still black screen on that too. Tried holding power and esc. Tried everything on these threads for the last 3hrs. Any chance someone can please point me in a direction otherwise imay need tech help. Thankyou.

When you connected the other monitor did you make sure to do so while the laptop is off, then turn on the external monitor and then finally turn on the laptop? If not, it may not show anything on the external monitor. Also, you may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you try all that (and you know the monitor works for certain) and you get nothing on the external monitor either, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.
