Hi! I've been struggling with this issue for a few hours now. PC boots perfectly fine in safe mode but after rebooting into normal mode, after lock screen the screen just turns black and i can only see my cursor. Can't open anything including task manager. Power cycling and uninstalling GPU drivers didn't fix the issue, but i was able to use it for around 5 reboots while reinstalling the drivers but the issue came back. Tried chkdsk, SFC scannow and dism commands which all found no issues and didn't really do anything. Also a rollback fixed it temporarily, and after another cold bootup it just started happening again and my rollback disappeared which I'm assuming is because i uninstalled the latest quality update. Any help would be appreciated!

Ryzen 2600, Rx 580 8 gb, 16gb ram, Asus tuf b450 plus gaming Mobo. Install was updated from windows 11 months ago and had no issues until today. Everything was up to date for days now. Bios version is 2409

Do you have multiple screens connected? (like monitor and tv)
Windows desktop may be being displayed onto second connected screen.
Yes i do but even with one of them being disconnected there's still nothing. At boot i just get the lockscreen and after logging in successfully the screens just go black and i am unable to do anything

You are 8 versions behind on your BIOS firmware. I would start by updating to the latest version. Some older versions have quirks and problems with Windows 11.

Latest version is 3604.

Would i run the risk of losing compatibility with my current CPU? If I do, i don't have access to a new one to roll back the bios.

No, B450 supports 2nd Gen Ryzen 3, 5 and 7 regardless of BIOS version.

Okay, so I've managed to get into Windows last night and turned off fast boot, and now I updated the BIOS and I am getting into Windows, but it's really slow and shortcuts like alt ctrl delete and ctrl shift escape don't work, and when i tried to install the AMD GPU drivers it just kept saying checking for hardware compatiblity for a few minutes and when I cancelled it, it just got stuck and wouldn't close. I'm guessing something is up with Windows explorer.

Edit: After a few reboots I decided to install the GPU drivers again which caused the black screen issue to happen again. After doing that i had to roll back once again after uninstalling the GPU drivers in safe mode to get back into windows again.

Then have you tried completely deleting the driver with ddu? It will make sure that nothing from the old driver installation is left over, it can help with some problems.

Yup. Tried doing that multiple times, and with the internet cable not plugged in so it doesn't automatically download new drivers, and tried downloading the last stable drivers and the newest optional drivers and same issue. The ones Windows installs automatically are from the end of 2021 which I haven't tried installing yet. Haven't tried reinstalling drivers while being in safe mode though.

Something is borked with your Windows installation then. I'd recommend doing a full clean install as I've outlined here:

In the meantime a new Windows update and Radeon Software update came out that seems to have fixed the issue. Apparently enchanced sync may cause black screen issues on some configurations and I guess I have been unlucky. Thank you all for all your help!
