Black screen with cursor

starts to load and then i get the black screen with the flashing cursor. I can only access the f2 key and the other keys just keeps on beeping on me. Not sure what to do at this point. The f2 key is the bios utility...Im a woman here and not sure what to do.

It sounds like your windows installation is damaged or your hard disk is malfunctioning. Does the hard disk appear in your BIOS menu? Hit the F2 key and see if a hard disk is detected.

It says hard dis drive 0: 160GB and hard dish drive1: 160GB

What version of Windows is this?

Insert a Windows disk and try and run the repair utilities.

On second thought, it could also be a hardware malfunction lingering. Do you have anything attached to the machine? If so, disconnect it.

I dont have a windows disk and nothing is connected to my laptop.

You can torrent a copy of a windows disk. Make sure you get your appropriate version. If your PC came with windows installed from a manufacturer, get an OEM copy, else get a retail copy.
