Hey so I'm having a pretty noobish problem but I need some help from you guys... I built a computer last night with the following parts list;

i7 6700k
NZXT Krakenx61
Asus z170 a
16gb Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM
250gb Samsung SSD
2tb Seagate hybrid
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 xtreme gaming edition
Case dosn't matter but it's a Corsair 780t
Corsair RM 650W

So my issue is my graphics card is turning on like everything else but I don't get any signal to my monitor. When I unplug my gpu and try to use onboard graphics I don't get any signal there either. I'm at a total loss as I have built 2 computers already for friends and they work perfectly. I am willing to give any information to help you guys help me. By the way the pc is a new build and thus doesn't have any os on it yet. it's a blank slate with all new parts that I ordered with week.

Thanks in advance!

If you have another pc laying around, make sure the monitor is working, if it is, make sure it is on the right mode because most monitors have many modes, avi, hdmi, dvi, etc and if it is not set to the correct one, it will say no signal.
If these don't work than make sure the monitor is on (probably is since you know what you are doing but honestly this happens to many people lol)
Make sure the outlet in which the monitor is plugged into is good, test other things on it (hardly ever the case but this should be the last thing to check)
Since it is both the gpu and on board, it is not a fried gpu which is good, does it give you post? (I know you said it turns on like everything else but just another thing to check), if it don't give post then rule out what component is causing the problem
Have you tried resetting the cmos? Even though it is brand new, this has helped many people and does not take long
If none of these work, I will post more ideas

So I've tried those steps including resetting the CMOS and nothing happened. I've also tried using a different PCI-E power cable to power the GPU just to see if that fixes it. I know that the monitor is fine because I've been playing my ps4 on it for several months. Just so that you know I used this website to reset the CMOS; https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1000851/ Also I don't know what constitutes a "post". Like I said the fans and lights turn on and the cpu gets a bit hotter so I think that means it posted.

Hope you can think of something else.

A post (Power On Self Test) is when it gets past the initial stage of checking the cpu, ram, and some other things
You will hear a sing beep if the boot was successful and if the beep is more than one then it tells you what is wrong (using the post codes that you find online for your mobo)
Do you have another cpu to test in the system? (only use it if it is compatible and if you don't know, post it here)
After these steps, if nothing works, I would start to take out things (make sure pc is off and no power to machine) like start with the graphics card (not on board), then your ram (take one slot out first), make sure to unplug all usb going from the back to minimize the spread of what could be the problem, tell me what happened after each step

LOL I told you to check the socket on the first response
