Probably should have stated Day of Defeat :)

This is a trend that is becoming more comon everywhere! There is just a bunch of idiots in this world that blam violent games for everything. What they forget is that it is the person that is responsible for their actions.

i know this won't affect me in anyway, but blizzard/activision are acting like scum when it comes to money, so i probably won't buy it.. just get a cracked version that doesn't require battle.net or monthly fees on a cracked server

So true... If violence is the common cold, then video games are the rain. Sure it can be a factor, but you shouldn't say, "Never do anything when it's raining. Ever." ...and shouldn't the parents be holding an umbrella over their child's head anyway?

Germany seems to have a real problem with violent video games... almost too much of a problem, in my opinion. I realize that the German government is (and should be) concerned about maintaining peace, but keeping violence out of the media will not keep it out of the minds of criminals. Lighten up, Germany! A little simulated gore never hurt anybody :)

Well, this was not unexpected.
Germany has had game censorship, sometimes more, sometimes less.
It's one of the reasons I import games from the UK (other than the fact that I hate dubs).
The last game I bought in Germany was C&C1, which had bots instead of infantry. I've stopped caring about German resleases the day I started importing using amazon.
(It's not just games btw. they censor movies too)

"...Blizzard wants to ... restrict StarCraft II from consumers below the age of 12."

That's more rediculous. This is StarCraft II, not SexCraft LXIX .

And why the talk of integrated parental controls? The parent controls whether to buy the game for his kid in the first place. Pretty simple.

Starcraft was very graphic! but it made it great! it was originally rated MA15+ in Australia, and rightly so. removing graphic deaths would destroy the style of the original game. mind you, I don't agree with the current style of the starcraft 2 units (I think the terrain looks awesome). they look unnatural and cartoony, and too much like warcraft 3. I don't think blizzard has done a particularly good job bringing their RTSs from 2d to 3d while maintaining the style. I think the best franchise to do that so far is red alert (red alert 2 to red alert 3). supreme commander and DOW look good in 3d, but they were never in 2d.

here's hoping I'm wrong, and I have been misleaded by the screenshots and low res videos.

I'd assume that maybe the parent plays it but wants it locked from the kid on the same computer.

[citation][nom]FallenSniper[/nom]Well I'm glad I'll have the US version. I want it to look realistic.[/citation]

I hate how game companies make giant death-bringing robots look unrealistic.

Just give it tits, making it 18+, and let the kids play the damned game anyways...

[citation][nom]ptroen[/nom]So the German version will have more sex then right?[/citation]

We can hope.

[citation][nom]kikireeki[/nom]Censoring SCII meh, but Diablo III, WTF? It is like censoring a porn movie![/citation]

Worse, Chinese porn is censored, but it's not all bad... but if they censor D3, it will turn out like Starcraft Ghost... failed.

[citation][nom]lemonade4[/nom]1. No LAN2. Three 'Starcraft II' packs (zerg,terran,protoss)3. Points system to download user-made maps4. recoloured blood..[/citation]

Making me rethink this game...

Me too. It's a flaming chainsaw made of demon children's teeth, not a batton... get it right already.

[citation][nom]IzzyCraft[/nom]Don't you also hate how real when you kill people they more or less explode with 100 gallons of blood[/citation]

Exactly.
150 gallons or more please.

Yet Germany has much lower criminal rates than neighboring countries, especially UK.
