I think the mian problem about this "rage" is that players who actually bought the game think, that we who dont like d3 are calling them stupid for buying it.

We are more angry because blizzard is treating everyone like we are stupid and we cant decide for ourselves what we want (Reminds me of apple a bit).

For example, ill state my case:
I bought Starcraft 2 the day it was for sale. I played the campaign, and after a small dissapointment for the missions (but just a bit), i went online, and after some months of beta beeing already running, i got to the highest league and top 10 in my league playing with 0 knowledge of the units and what they do.

I was sure this was only because i used to play broodwar, and i was quite good at it, but it turned out that after a year and some months, my friend got to grandmaster doing over and over the same thing, killing very well known players. At that point i quited the game noticing that the game was boring and broken.
Some time after that, since a new patch, i cant play sc2 campaign if im not connected to the internet...
So, all in all, i havent played that game (except user custom maps) for 6 months at least.

Then i heard about diablo 3. Having the expirience of starcraft 2, i decided to wait and see.
After watching a Diablo 3 stream for about 2 hours it was clear to me i wasent interested in it.
In other words, i did my research, and decided not to spend the money on it.

Since blizzard now spends a good chunk of cash on ads, people who havent been playing games like d2, or broodwar for years, and we had to actually buy the same game again because we lost the CD, or something like that... (hell i got 4 copies of d2 and 6 of broodwar myself), might not realize that you dont need ads when something is good, people will do that for you.

If you are spending cash on ads is to tell people that they need or want something.

If anything, we expected better from blizzard...

@dragonsqrrl and still no comment about the game or my game comments. I rest my case. We already had our discussion, and you chose not to show up to discuss anything but my feelings...LOL and you're still doing it.

I didn't even buy the game, so not upset about it at all. A little peeved I don't get to play it as I was looking forward to it. But I can't be bothered to pay for DRM/RMAH when games like Torchlight 2 are out there (by the same guys who made D1 & D2). :)

Ugly, F-14, Cats etc...These are all echoing sentiment around the web. I'd almost be happy if they'd just update D1 & D2 up to today's standards. I can't wait for BG2 enhanced in Nov.

I owned ATVI stock until I found out the DRM was going to make people "RAGE" as you put it...LOL. I haven't looked back, and tossed all that money into NVDA :) I will no longer respond to your comments as you haven't said a thing about the game in response to my original critique. Which figures. As I said before a typical dem response. "You made a great argument, so um...You're raging and you suck"...Nice..When I answered the first time with great detail (those reasons were why I didn't buy), I thought we were about to have a discussion. You instead avoided it, and discussed ME. I wonder how many times this year you've told someone to calm down after they formulated a great opinion that was different from your viewpoint? Never mind... :)

I heard about that but i thoguht it was a fake. By BG1 you mean baldurs gate 1?
If so, there is a high probability ill buy it myself, thou id have to see it first. (btw of baldurs game 1 i have 3 copies >D.)

Yes...Baldur's gate 1. I already have boxed copies also. But from before gog got them and made it easy to run win7 etc. They're the ancient ones from when both hit the boxes with expansions (complete editions if memory serves). Not fake at all man, I'm generally excited! 10 new hours of content too, made by the original guys also! I love that they are bringing back the classics.
http://baldursgate.com/
Go ahead, try to put your wallet away..I dare you...ROFL.
not sure if you've seen gog.com with NO DRM classics etc. Nothing on their site has DRM. Worth a visit if you're an old gamer like me. All packages in single file downloads etc. Great site. They made the witcher/witcher 2 games. I love those guys and their site.
BG1 Delayed last week to Nov though...bummer...But ok if they are just polishing the heck out of it. I haven't played in a long while though you can do a lot of it with hi-res addons already, I'll enjoy the package at $20 with updates, corrected text stuff, NEW content etc. I'd love to see the ultimas/wizardry series remade also. I grew up on those. :) Clear back to the first ones wiz1 was black/white...LOL. Ouch I'm feeling old now. I want to see someone do Planescape Torment also. They have lots of stuff out that gets you hires and even font packs for it too, but it kind of ruins combat in that one, because it was designed for a small screen and not so you could see everything on the map at ultra..LOL. I'd like to see it modified to fix that/balance things out. All of them look great at 1920x1200 without enhancing them. Still check out the site. 400 improvements! MULTIPLAYER improved. $20...They will get my money for sure...LOL I can't even remember most of it...LOL. Kids of today totally missed out on half of the best games ever. Today only 10-15hrs, full of graphics with little gameplay for $60. Back then you couldn't find anything over $30. A great game can be made for $20 today as shown by torchlight 2 ceo here:
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-09-18-torchlight-ii-dev-finds-digital-as-profitable-as-full-retail
He makes the same $14 as he does selling retail copies at $60...Just by digital release at $20. I hope people follow their lead/Legends of grimrock too. $15 for that. WOW. They said they made enough to cover their next 3 years in dev! I can't wait for Grimrock 2 or for them to remake something old/great with updates. Prime candidates for the Wizardy 1-6 as grimrock is just like them but really good graphics. Pure dungeon crawler-real rgp stuff. Add the RPG stuff and I could easily see a wizardry remake! They have the dungeon engine down already. Direct contact with designers in their forums too. Only 4 people made that game! THEY LISTEN to buyers :) Unlike Blizzard these days. I'd be happy paying $30 for games like these with just a bit more content (well, BG1 etc obviously 100+hrs, no need for more there, wizardry 8 another 100+ game most of the others were at least 40hrs+). I would have paid $20 for grimrock but got it for $13 :) at launch special! Why do we pay $60 for any game? Dumb. Good luck trying to keep your $20 in your wallet after going to bg1 site..LOL. I think iphone/android sync launch delayed us, the PC version is done I think.

With funding a 3d version can be done in dragon age as shown.

VERY nice.

[citation][nom]somebodyspecial[/nom]@dragonsqrrlNot sure how to explain this to you...It's $20 vs. $60? Make sense now? OK, how about it lasts longer for that $20 and doesn't require draconian DRM? No RMAH (nuff said on that alone)? It's made by ex diablo people hence more like the real thing? 346 user ratings at 9.3 & metacratic score of 90?Diablo has 6605 user ratings @ 3.8? A lot of users couldn't even use the game, and some without internet that pre-ordered still can't use it? Still not getting it?Front page review at metacritic:Armchair empire: "But the dumbed character and inventory systems, coupled to the ridiculous always-on connection and the breathtaking arrogance of the"you'll play how we tell you to play" attitude makes playing this title a damned shame instead of a hell of a good time."=score 45. If you chuck out the reviews who pass out 100's (6 say it's 100? with all the online BS, servers not working at launch for some etc? seriously?) like their candy on halloween the 88 avg from reviewers comes down dramatically. The Armchair reviewer is stating it accurately. Torchlight listened to customers, whereas Blizzard decided how you should play for you Did I mention it's only $20?...LOL. Did I mention it's only $20...LOL...Did I...Oops My record was skipping... For $60 you get a game you may not be able to play and they virtually killed anyone wanting to mod it. This game won't be played in 12 years like D2 was. That party is over already for D3. I know a lot of people who have played through Torchlight 1 multiple times already. I'm sure they'll do it with T2 also. Did I mention T2 has lan/mod support for $20? Offline anyone? Torchlight 1 is even a close call vs. Diablo3 at $15 and only 450MB at Gog.com. Near infinite re-playability with Random dungeons. Both of these games make Diablo 3 much less impressive at $60 with lots of BS for the privilege of playing it (penalty of playing it?).[/citation]

I read all of this with an upward inflection at the end of each sentence, since you used so many question marks..

@velosteraptor - Since it's really totally opinion that was how it was meant :) How much would have been enough to convince him? He was at loss understanding people rating it so well above D3. So yes...You are correctly reading it 😉 Though it wasn't that I didn't believe what I was saying. :)

He himself said it was personal preference so...It was more like one big book of questions & from his opinion I really didn't expect him to buy my statements. He clearly doesn't understand the concept of voting with your wallet when a company puts in things screwing you. He'll deal with it, where I refuse. A large portion of people bought it not believing the good stuff was missing & crap like RMAH was added. IF you pre-ordered and left it at that you might have been pissed as the reviews of users shows.

I'm not quite sure why "word of mouth" or "bandwagoning" is bad in games today. It can quickly tell you reviewers are ignoring important stuff to users (drm, rmah, may not be able to play if server support is dropped, no lan parties? WTF? etc), and in the case of a great game sell it like crazy and support a great small dev who can't otherwise advertise. Both games are made by some participants from D1/D2. But the bigger company goes the DRM/RMAH way, $60 too and the smaller goes $20, no drm, no soak you for money, no server going down later worries etc.

D3 is essentially soaking the public who made them what they are today based on these classics sales while throwing out all that made them classics to begin with. Torchlight 2 is the real spiritual successor to D1/D2 IMHO. No lan? This game begged for it and they had to know we ALL wanted it (it was a staple in the others and VASTLY requested in forums for D3), but the RMAH killed that idea. Screwed the customers there. After 12 years or so we expected at least lan and no server dependance. If blizzard goes out of business or is bought by someone who doesn't care, they won't be supporting servers after a bankruptcy etc. Not that I'm saying that is the case today, but anyone can go under in the right circumstances. TTWO (take2) is nearing it, 38 studios went into bankruptcy just as Kingdoms of Amalur hit the shelves. OUCH. Junebud filed last month. Runestone not long ago. Fundex (rode high 2005/2006).
Since the start of 2006 over 60 game development companies have closed their doors and that's not a complete list. 3Drealms is in there too...dang!

I follow stocks so I tend to see balance sheets floating in my head when I hear servers are needed.
EA has lost 2.4Bil in the last 5 years wiping out all of their profits for the last 10yrs! OUCH.
Of course, I hope they go belly up and quit destroying good companies. We'd get back to some good games without the BS if tons of companies got a fresh start out of their umbrella.

Nvidia killed 3dfx in less than 5 years when they were #1 and dominant, NV got the last laugh and bought the engineers/IP while trashing the rest (they hated each other). It can happen quickly, hardware or software. If apple hadn't banned HTC stuff (stupid lawsuit), they would have made a crap-ton of money. Had the ban went much longer they might have had major financial issues. All kinds of things can go wrong unfortunately. Personally, I'll never support a game that requires a server to be alive in order to play. MMO's included. Lan parties are great (I'm not a loner), but MMO's with tons of kiddies ruining my experience chanting chat crap along with subscriptions (to anything...LOL) make me hate MMO'S. I realize I can turn them off but it kind of defeats part of the MMO fun. Have a good one :)
