Blizzard Making World of Warcraft Magazine

even though I quit WoW long time ago, i think this is a brilliant idea, of course, i just hope blizzard doens't make this magazine a walk-through of the game, instead focus on the players and the stories of the game

Now the WoW nerds will have something to read while they fly from place to place, not to mention a shameless money grab by blizzard...so sad

Why would I buy a magazine for the game. What kind of information are they going to cover that I can not find on any fan site out there. MMO-Champion, World of Raids, etc. Just an attempt to capitalize on their game. (I give them full credit its a smart move) But I really don't see the use for it and no I will not subscribe to it.

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]this is a good move, now the wow addicts may actually go outdoors once in a while to buy the magazine[/citation]

it will get delivered to their door, even blizzard knows they wont leave their house!

Supposedly it is advertisement free (I wouldn't be surprised to see Warcraft related ads though) and supported only on subscription fees.

Also, for those who don't think it will add any value and they can read all they want online at different websites, just think a little bit how Blizzard can control the flow of information about upcoming changes to the game via their own magazine. Instead of the info showing up on their website first, Blizzard can publish previews for new content, class changes, etc. via the magazie (followed a week later on their website). They can also provide exclusive interviews with the game designers (themselves!). Couple that with some beautiful artwork and an in-game pet (you know they will probably do this like they do for everything else), there will be plenty of reasons people will be interested in subscribing.

Sounds like they're trying to milk WoW suckers for even more of their income.

I think this is a great move by Blizzard. Their already involved deeply with the community of players that pay them, and now they'll be able to show them even more love with exclusive reading material. And not to mention... I'm sure they'll have some sort of Starcraft II section when it releases.

[citation][nom]jgiron[/nom]so this is the new WoW Playboy magazine.[/citation]

Really! What they should do is have centerfolds of female Night Elves or female Blood Elves depending on whether the magazine subscriber is predominately Horde or Alliance. :)

lol

This magazine will be PDF'd from start to end and online for free the day it hits stands.

$39.99 for 4 issues a year? lolz

Yea, and they wonder why people pirate stuff...

From a business perspective I think this is brilliant but on a personal level...do we really need people to be sucked in any more than they already are?

You think they could've made the URL any longer? Seriously, sheesh.
Like worldofwarcraft.com isn't already long enough. They should mirror it to blizzard.com/wow or battle.net/wow
Woah, it is blizzard.com/wow
wicked. 😛
