[citation][nom]Davil[/nom]I played the Beta and well... Still not sure whether I really even care about this anymore.[/citation]

Sadly I totally agree. I played the hell out of DII but the D3 beta was just weak imo. Guild wars 2 blows it out of the water

As someone who's no longer into MMOs of any kind, I really don't like having to be online to play a game I bought (or won't buy, in this case).

LAN gaming is different and the main reason I'm excited about Torchlight 2. I even got Torchlight 1 free when I pre-ordered the sequel which makes me more excited for T2 to come out.

Even after buying this game...
I would glady side step the mental anguish of opening day if they make a demo available that does not have an internet connection requirement.
I imagine enough people probably would be willing just to be able to tool around during the jam without any hassle to make a big dent in that traffic!

Conversly, if the only demo was also internet only...
I sure hope they hold off on the demo till the opening week is over??

Though my utilities very rarely are in danger of being turned of lately ( because I am not the one paying anymore )
I have had enough days of oppressive poverty to know cold winters without heat or sometimes without even a working water heater where utility bills for luxuries like cable TV or most certainly cinemax and HBO might as well of been diamonds when living under the horrible terror that the power company was coming to shut you down or worrying that the crack addicts in the abandominium next door to you might lose control of their fire pit and burn you to death in your sleep ( till I was actually dragged from my bed in the middle of the night by fire fighters to stand out in the cold before I had a chance to save the computer pride and joy that took so long to save for and watch as my room was engulfed in thick smoke )
:-(

That such an "internet connection" security requirement is put into effect without consideration of what a huge dehuminizing slap in the face such a policy represents in the lives of those when the resulting shame of lost internet connection is tatamount to the declarartion of an "UNDESERVED LIFE" without the luxuries of escape or pride.

[citation][nom]Marfig[/nom]There's no reason, technical or otherwise, except for the simple fact they wanted it this way. Why? Well, I can only think of some sort of anti-piracy attempt, or perhaps trying to push the very large single-player community into online play. No matter what, I feel it is one of the worst things to happen to the game industry in the past few years. If Activision-Blizzard and a few others approach to single players stick, gamers like me are in for a world of pain.
It's the one reason why I decided to vote with my wallet. Despite Diablo II being one of my most favorite games of all times, I am not going to buy Diablo III. Most likely ever! If they change their policy towards single-player mode, I will certainly revert my decision.Of course, with so many people buying the game, my "vote with the wallet" counts for absolutely nothing. But t least I will not have to endure a game on my machine that I feel infringes on my consumer rights.[/citation]

you're not the only one who chose to boycott D3. your vote counts.
