[SOLVED] Blue protective film on m.2 shield frozr

Hey guys on the m.2. Shield frozr heatsink for nvme SSDs of my z490 a pro motherboard there is a blue protective film. Do I have to remove it if I'm not using nvme SSDs? Or can I leave it there?

If there's a protective film, it usually means there's a thermal pad or something. You should keep the film on until you actually install something in there so as to keep the pad as "fresh" as possible.

Might take it off, trim it so that it doesn't show, and then put the cover back on.

Not like you can't get a new thermal pad when you do use it.

If your PC reaches temperatures high enough to make plastic catch fire, you have bigger fish to fry.

You can remove it it's not needed.

It's nothing I built several builds with the MSI boards that has then heck even my board has it.

Ok but the radiator of my aio at the front pulls the air from my pump in, could it not get too hot? Can I not just leave it?

Are you using a m.2 drive in that slot?
If not their a thin pad under the film you can do whatever.
You can cut it to size, if you wish, they should be a screw on each end if you wish to just remove the cover.

If it's on the heat sink and is more or less exposed, remove it. If it's under the heat sink and there's something underneath the plastic wrap like a thermal pad, then don't unless you have an M.2 drive installed.

I would just leave it as is unless it causes issues.

As was pointed out the thermal ignition point of anything sold to a consumer is going to be quite high. If you reach those temperatures your computer is basically already on fire.
