Hey all,

Just upgraded from a 2nd gen Ryzen to an i5 12400. Everytime I attempt to boot up my computer, I get error code "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" and says that AMDRyzen MasterDriver.sys failed. I know its because of the hardware change. I can not get into safe mode because I can't reach the desktop because it crashes before that. I also do not have an option to boot into safe mode from the blue screen. Is there anyway to remove the drivers, or even reinstall windows without having to lose ALL my files?

Solution
boot from installer
  • on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
  • choose troubleshoot
  • choose advanced
  • choose command prompt
  • type notepad and press enter
  • in notepad, select file>open
  • Use file explorer to copy any files you need to save to USB or another ssd/hdd
once you copied everything off the PC you want to save, do a clean install
follow this guide: https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-do-a-clean-installation-of-windows-10.3170366/

its generally a good idea to clean install after such a big hardware change. You should have expected it.
