Blue Screen of Death while using IDE drives [Solved]

Hi,

I bough a new computer yesterday.

Asus Maximus Formula Motherboard
Intel E6750 processor
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 memory
Asus TOP 8800GT 512M video card



I am having terribles issues while using any of my IDE drives (for instance, my DVD burner/player and my backup HD drive) : After few minutes of use, a blue screen comes up and show an "irq_less_than_equal" error.

I managed to do a memtest and I figured that I had more than millions error in few mins. I removed one of them (so I tested one DIMM at time), no problem at all. I put the other one and removed the first one, no error at all (at least, in the early tests)

I tried every DIMM possible with my memory pair, seems there is a problem somewhere.

I am on my BIOS default values, no overclocking at all.

It seems that my computer is alright while gaming or doing anything without the use of IDE drives... If I remove one memory slot, woah, my computer works but it's damn slow and choppy in any game.

"irq_less_than_equal" error

Hardware (memory) or driver related. If you have installed ASUS Ai Suite, uninstall it in control panel. Do Not install ASUS Ai Suite from the MB CD, it corrupts the system badly. Information and fix on the ASUS product website. Also, in BIOS have you set the memory voltage to Mfg. specs, 2.0-2.1v. HTH.

Thanks for the infos, I'll try to uninstall asus AI suite.

For the memory voltage, I don't even know how to set it in bios (no info about that in my manual).

In BIOS memory voltage can be adjusted. Enter Jumperfree Configuration. About two-thirds of the way down on the page. Memory voltage. Set the value to 2.1v. Save and exit. Very important.

Hi, I cannot find any "Jumperfree configuration" in Bios menu. I updated my bios and I still can't find anything to change my memory voltage and still having a lot of errors in memtest.

However, some people say that the Maximus is not compatible with memtest.

Check my configuration. Jumperfree configuration is in BIOS. I ran memtest86 yesterday. I have no clue where you are getting your information. Someone is steering you entirely wrong. Post on the product site I gave you..

The quick fix I suggest for your system issue is really very simple.

1. If you have installed ASUS Ai Suite...uninstall it from control panel add remove programs. The program is corrupt. It is a known issue. There is a fix on the product webpage if you must have Ai Suite.

2. In BIOS, set your memory voltage to 2.0-2.1v and adjust the memory timings to specs.

The problem you are having may be caused by some other issue, but I have given you a good start.

Hi again,

I uninstalled Asus ai suite and every other asus product I installed yesterday.

But I don't appear to be able to set memory voltage anywhere in my bios. I don't see the jumperfree configuration menu in my BIOS and anything that looks like memory voltage.

I have something where I can adjust memory timing but there is no option to change voltage.

I'll check up again, this problem is anoying me...

Also, I tried to play for "real" a few mins ago. Even with my IDE drives disconnected, I seem to have a BSOD frequently...

I tried with one memory bar only, doesn't seem to crash for the moment.

HI, I found that I wasn't in the right mode to set voltage and timing.

Set timing to 4-4-4-12 and 2.1V. Seems more stable in memtest (pass where it failed before).

Did not tried it in games at the moment but thanks a lot, you were right!

Seems solved so far... I'm getting some terrible "artifacts" crash (screen goes crazy with red glitches for a few sec before my computer crashes) in Crysis after a certain time (maybe 1h, sometime more).

Other than that, everything is okay!

Regarding the artifacts screen going crazy, you might look into your power supply going south or even overheating. The video card is obviously suspect. You might check the video card temps and see that the fan is running at 100% keeping the video card's RAM from overheating.

My video card seems correct, not overheating at all according to temp, fan is running fine too. My Power supply seems to throw a lot of warm air.

However, I'm still having those damn irq_less_than_equal after some time in World of Warcraft for exemple.

I'll do a complete memtest to see.
