Blue Screen of Death!!

I just bought a new webcam and installed it. I can see myself on screen with AMCAP but when I click video chat on skype I get the blue screen of death???? Anyone???

Must be an issue with Skype, try reinstalling it.

What kind of computer is it? Motherboard, CPU, PSU, GPU, OS, etc. Can you either write down the error codes (stop codes) or on the next boot there will be a pop-up box showing the same codes again. This will help pin-point the problem.

You don't have to get another blue screen to get them, just download this program http://www.resplendence.com/download/whocrashedSetup.exe and install it. It is called Who Crashed and it will access the %SystemRoot%\Memory.dmp file in your root directory which is a memory dump file. It logs all the critical system errors. Who Crashed will organize the errors by date and time starting with the latest. When you first run the program, click analyze. Then, scroll down and look for the latest log. You will see a cause, a number or set of numbers and letters (ex. 0x1000007E) and a description. Just copy and paste the whole log and post it here.

There are several Skype users who have had this happen. Most of them used an older version of Skype or renamed the Skype folder to fix it. Check this thread. List of old versions of Skype for Windows: http://www.filehorse.com/download-skype/old-versions/ Just make sure you completely uninstall the current version first.

I uninstalled skype 6.7 and the skype click to call using control panel and reinstalled skype 6.6 and the same thing happened. So I did it all again with 6.0 and the same happened. Any ideas?

Did the webcam come with a disc for the drivers or did they install automatically when you plugged it in? It is possible that Windows just installed a generic driver for it and not the one specific for it. What make/model is the webcam? There might be an updated driver for it.
