bone to pick with the 7900GTX

can someone explain how the GT version manages to beat everything else? im sure this has to be a mistake...

o and why wasnt there a comparison against the 7800GTX 512 after all that will be what most upgrade from and if its not included how we gonna kno if its actually better. a single 7900GTX looks like it gets bout the same FPS in FEAR as the 7800GTX 512 so....

I never evem look at the Half Life 2 benchmarks anymore, they are always about equal. I think it has something to do with the fact that they allow the CPU to perform extra work, hence when running an FX57, you get similar results with a range of graphics cards.

Look at the margins. If you take into account a margin of error, all scores are identical.

The game was CPU limited.

My bones to pick with the 7900 series are:

1) No VIVO for video capture

2) Cheap-O Cooling system on the 7900GT

These must be cost saving features, which explains why the prices are so reasonable.

I really like the preformance of 7900GT, I will be stepping-up to the Superclocked version, however I will have to buy a video capture device seperatly. I will also be buying an aftermarket cooling system for this card as uncooled RAM, that has some of the chips blocked by the stock cooler so you can't put RAMsinks on them, just does not do it for me.

Either way I can get both of those for less then $75 so it's not too bad.

*EDIT*
-Yes I know it is 90nm so it needs less cooling, but I would feel more comfortable with a heatsink like the 7800GT had.

you worrying about cooling for the normal GT, or the superclocked GT? Cuz I'm thinking of buying the normal one, and I'm wondering if I ought to buy any extra cooling for that. *kinda a noob*

Yeah, I was disappointed they didn't have VIVO, are they adding that some how? I hope so, I was hoping to get a 7900GT.
