Hello, when I put in my Windows 98 SE CD into my PC and try to boot, I get this error - boot disk failure insert system disk and press enter. I put a Windows XP CD into my PC and it worked just fine, so it is a problem with the CD. How do I correctly make a bootable Win 98 SE CD? The way I did it is download the Full Retail version from winworldpc.com, and using IMGBurn I usde the option "Write image file to disc", checked the verify box and burned it. What did I do wrong?

Solution
Windows 95, 98, and ME CDs were not bootable. What you actually have to do is download a Win98 startup disk online (you know the thing that takes you to an MS-DOS prompt), and put it on a CD with the files from the 98 CD. This way you can boot to DOS and run setup from the prompt on the CD.
When using the option "Write image file to disc", make sure that you loaded the complete image file, or else it wont boot. If you downloaded an archived file, extract it and convert it to image file using the imgburn "create image file from file/folders", the output should be an .iso file. with that .iso file you can now use the option "Write image file to disc". verify it and you will have your bootable disc drive.

That is what I did. Also, when I put the CD into my modern PC, it says Win98 and has Windows 98 logo.
