Boot failed after installing a new graphics card.

I have a HP pavilion p6-2204a which comes with a GT 630, and recently i decided to upgrade it to a GTX 750. So I went out and bought the card, and tried to install it myself. Unfortunately the system stucks forever on the windows 7 logo screen. I swapped back to the old GT 630 and everything is fine. I installed the driver for GTX 750 with GT 630 on board and kept trying, and now with the GTX 750 on board, the system gives a short beep for 3 times with ~20 seconds spacing between them, and the screen doesn't give any signal after this. After some research I realised this might be the secure boot problem, but I cannot find a secure boot option in bios (AMI 7.07). Has anyone encounterd similar situations or does anyone knows how to fix this? Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response nitrium, but with existing RAMs my GT 630 works fine. Could it be the hidden compatibility issue between GTX 750 and one of the RAMs?

I gave the RAM thing a try. Back to Infinite windows logo loop again, and when I try to get into bios, the short beep sound comes back.

New Problem. Still stuck on the starting windows screen hopelessly, but I can hear the "welcome" sound effect, probably an indication that the system has booted successfully, but the screen is frozen. Anyone knows how to deal with this problem?

Oh boy, OEMS are usually not to be messed with, i think i know what the problem is.

Does your pc have an iGPU? because if not then you are more or less in a fix. If you have used OEM based drivers for your 630 then it will most probably give you bugs with the 750. If your PC has an iGPU then this would make it much easier. Just uninstall drivers (Run DriverSweeper) then put 750 ti and install nvidia drivers.

If you donot have an iGPU, do this: Try this: put the GT 630 back in. Boot up and uninstall drivers of nvidia and run driver sweeper (dont worry it should give display when you boot back up and win7 generic drivers are loaded). Then put in the 750 Ti, and install Nvidia drivers.

Or just take it to a PC shop and ask them to do it for you.

To follow up on cococabana's reply, it looks like your PC does indeed have an integrated GPU, which it looks like Windows might be switching to during boot.

Try plugging your monitor into the integrated GPU, and see if you can make Windows use the GTX 750 (or at least see if it's been properly recognised) as the primary display adpater.

So I got the drive sweeper, cleaned everything that starts with nvidia three times, manually uninstalled 335.23 driver, turned off computer, plugged gtx 750 back in and tried to boot. Screen still frozen with desktop welcome sound effects, and I can turn it off with a shutting down sound effect by kicking the power button. If I try to access the bios it would freeze. I somehow unplugged the DVI from the card and plug it back in, then when booting the system gives me the short beeps again as mentioned previously.

HP IGPUs does not work when a graphics card is plugged into the PCI-E port. For example, I have enabled the IGPU in bios, and boot the computer with my GT 630 plugged in. In device manager there will be both GT 630 and the IGPU, except that the IGPU is marked as not working properly, as hp mentioned "Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed." Right now, to prevent the system from automaticlly installing driver for GT 630, I'm booting the system without a dedicated video card, and DVI connected to the IGPU.

Unfortunately I gave up and purchased a new mobo along with a GTX760. Hope yours will work though 😉
