I just purchased a new SSD and windows 8.1 pro.

I'm trying to do an install of 8.1 on the new SSD a but can't seem to select CD/DVD from the boot priority in the BIOS.

Steps taken so far are:
Put 8.1 disk in tray
Shutdown
Disconnedt all SSD/HDDs
Connect new SSD
Switch on PC
Go to BIOS
try to switch boot priority to DC/DVD.

There is only one option to boot from and thats the new SSD which of course has nothing on it. SO how do a install windows on the SSD?

My MOBO is AsRock P67 Extreme 4

Best regards
AJ

Make sure you haven't disconnected the optical drive when you disconnected the old HDD. After that what you were doing should work. Sometimes it takes a minute or two for the boot options to populate.

Found I needed to plug my cable from the optical drive into a different port on the mobo. Once I'd done that the optical drive was available for booting from.

Windows 8.1 is now installed to the new SSD

Best regards
AJ
