I changed an HDD in system, unchanged since 2009, en after that I had the simple boot loop: Start, after abt 3 sec (before POST appears) complete stop, after 4 seconds again start, stop, start, stop etc.
Reading around, I switched the AXP 650W powersupply for a Cooler Master G650M.
No effect :-(
Reading more and more, finally ending here.
I have now removed all USB appliances (even the Keyboard is non-USB), and thoroughly followed these instructions:
=======
...to break a 'boot-loop' (assuming it's not hardware induced - bad RAM, PSU, or 'thermal cycling'), try the following:
hold the front panel power switch depressed until it finally quits trying to restart;
switch off the power supply - or, if no switch, unplug it;
depress the front panel power switch for twenty seconds more;
jumper, or (carefully) short the RST_CMOS pins momentarily;
unplug all USB devices, except keyboard and rodent;
PSU switch back on;

power up - first thing, enter the BIOS and do the "Load Optimized";
<F10> to save and exit;
hopefully - good to go!
========

Alas, The system completely ignored this change, and the boot loop stayed, also when using Delete key, and no audible signal is given.

What to do?

This is what I just finished to. No effect.
After re-inserting each 1GB module I tried again, no change in behaviour.

The CPU-fan starts, but is immediately powered off. after 3 seconds again andagain. This is a shorter cycle than the Boot loop I hat become comfortable with...
The case can: ditto. But it hardly turned. The fan does not turn lightly. Should it?
There is no sign of a real start up of course.

I removed the front audio and the card-reader connections.
No effect.

Is this happening before the bios screen?? . It is surely a Motherboard issue! But to be sure. Install all of your hardware one by one in your friends /someone else's PC and see if HDD , RAM, and other PCI devices you might have is faulty or not? Check the hard drive SATA cable of it is okay or not . Do you have a gfx card?

It did something.
1 reboot after maybe3-5 seconds
2 reboot with one fairly long beep after 10 seconds
3 as 2
4 After running 1-2 minutes the 4 PHASE LEDs distinguish, CPU-fan and System fan still running. Wonder what the system tries to do now...

System fan needs replacement, turns hesitating. I had already seen that it was not running free.
Video card appears to have its own fan. (not visiblewithout mirror :-( .... Rather dirty, but it runs free.

I look forward to jump into your conclusion :)

Couple of things to try . Change your MOBO CMOS battery. enter only one RAM and HDD to see if it still happening or not. Does it happen while you are in BIOS screen too? Let it sit in BIOS for about 15 minutes if it is still happening. Then unplug the hard disk boot into BIOS to determine if it is the Hardisk thats making this problem.

Glad to learn that the Graphics card or Motherboard is not (yet) declared dead :)

OK, I'll get a battery tomorrow.
I take it that inbetween i can put the graphics card in place again?

Motherboard there is a 15% chance that it is okay.
Gpu i'd say it has 73% chance of being okay.

Remounted Videocard
ReplacedFan.
Replaced Battery (Voltage of old and new battery were equal)

Booted. Result: Constant reboots every ca5 seconds without aurible signal.
Any new conclusions?

Tests without and with 1,2,3,4 RAMs already done earlier, no effect.

Now: Remounted Videocard
Replaced Fan.
Replaced Battery (Voltage of old and new battery were equal)

Booted. Result: Constant reboots every ca5 seconds without aurible signal.
Any new conclusions?
