Hello,

I am trying to figure out why my boot order keeps resetting. I have an external HD that is plugged into the Esata Port sata0 and my internal HD is set to sata1. I want to change my boot order to choose sata0 when its plugged in. So the order would be sata0, sata1.

After I change the boot order it works fine but when I turn off the external, then turn it back on and try to boot back to it the settings revert back to sata1, sata0. Any suggestions?

I am doing this for a classroom where students use externals to boot into different OSes. All the stations are identical and there are 3 stations where we have no issues. When the externals are plugged in they boot directly no problem.

I plan on checking the Cmos battery but the PC's are only 2 years old.

The first thing you have to do is restart your computer and enter the BIOS. You can enter the BIOS when you see a message such as “Press FX to enter setup” or something similar.

Hello thanks for your responses

Yes I am entering BIOS and changing the boot order and pressing F10 to save changes. Its strange because it is saving them and after a few restarts and unplugging the Esata port and re-plugging the settings revert.
