Boot record lost?

I dunno if i just got a virus or what, but my boot drive, a Samsung 20.4gb, will not boot any more. I was dual booting Win2k and Me, which worked fine for a LOOOONG time. But just the other day, I started it up and it says "NTLDR is missing." I assume NTLDR is the boot menu program or something? How can I resolve this? Any help is MUCH appreciated.

You should be able to create a boot disk in order to get into Windows 2000 to find out what's wrong by following the instructions at <A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q119/4/67.ASP" target="_new">Microsoft Product Support</A>. I would guess that the problem you are having is similar to something addressed for setup related issues at <A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q246/1/19.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0" target="_new">Setup Cannot Continue</A>.

Howdy. Go into the BIOS and enable booting from CDROM, then boot to the Win2k CDROM, and (sorry, I'm too lazy to stick the CD in and go through the menus right now to give you more exact instructions) get to a command prompt, then you can type help for a list of commands. The ones you want are fixboot and fixmbr. Hope this helps. Bruce

God speed.

You should be able to clear the boot record with "fdisk /mbr" from the Win bootdisk. Then re-create the partition(s), re-format, blah, blah...
