Boot to either of two drives, then only one

Hmmmm, Alphonse.....I hope you're just 'away' and not stumped.
With that boot.ini on my SP2 drive, if I try it as Master, it
stops right after BIOS at 'Boot from CD'......, where it hangs.
And I've tried changing drive letter of that drive from G: as
it was, to D: which was vacant, with same results........
Either way, it boots up fine in Slave position as HDD-1, but
hangs at same place if I make it Master/HDD-0.

Al, although you haven't advised further, I have progress to report.
I took still another hard drive on which I had made a full copy
of the Master, and somehow I fired it up and it booted properly.
If I knew why, I'd be happy. If I knew what's different, I'd be happy.
I hate to be in a "It ain't broke, don't fix it" mode, but all I can say
is, if I find out what's different, I'll let you know. Right now I have the
next problem, on which I'll start a new thread, namely, my mail and
address and bookmark files are in a folder that's under c:\Documents &.....
and I'm trying to find out how to copy those to a separate file or directory
so that I can copy them to CD and have them handy to fall back on.
Or really how to copy them to the same place on my "spare" hard drive.

I don't know your understanding of the windows xp behaviuor.
You can change your My documents by klicking rightmouse knop on My documents
under the start menu.

If you change the selected folder c:\documents and setting\your name\my
documents to (sample) D:\My docs, then Windows wil refer always to the new
location.

As same with other folders under C:\documents and settings\username, even
the hidden folders, you can cut and past on every place you want it to be.

For me i have al the neccesary folders placed in my My documents folder on
an different HDD zo that if i have to re-install the system i have alwas the
exact same system settings.
Think about the standard sent to folder.
I have changed enough in it to worrie me every next time, so i made the
standard folder to be on that other HDD.
Just by cutting the c:\documents and settings\....\sent to folder to mij
D:\My documents folder.
As this is an standard handling for me in every installation i know that if
you only repeat those handlings everytime you install an new windows xp
system, or re install your windows xp system than everytime you have
re-installed your windows xp you can start with the same settings as before.

You can see the sent to folder if you change the folder settings so that you
see every file ( hidden or not)
