Question Bootable NVME - Clone or fresh?

Hi all. I'm updating an older Z8Z-A board with a NVME (via Pci-e adapter on x16 slot and flash BIOS update), and was wondering if I can just simply clone my old Windows 10 C: Drive onto the NVME first, then set it to boot from that in BIOS?

Or will it require a fresh install in order to write the necessary UEFI boot files to see it as a bootable device?

Thanks,
Nick.

Going from a SATA to an NVMe, a fresh install is strongly recommended, if not required.

Are you sure that motherboard can boot from an NVMe drive in that PCIe adapter?
Not all can. Does that latest BIOS update address that issue?

Cheers.

As far as I have read around, yes updating the BIOS allows it and other people have done it successfully.

We'll see!
