Bootdevice not found

Hello,

I just upgraded my HP Elitebook 8570w with a Samsung SSD 840, installed in the upgrade bay (replacing the optical drive). I intend to use the SSD as the primary drive, using the hard drive mainly for storage. I successfully installed Windows 7 on the SSD, wiping the other drives on the system (they had no data anyway). I also changed the boot options on the BIOS, with the Notebook Upgrade Bay first, and the Notebook Hard Drive second, using the legacy boot method. However, after installation, the system says

"Boot device not found. Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard Disk -(3f0)"

and then takes me to System Diagnostics. I ran both the memory test and and Hard disk test and they both passed.

While booting, if I hit esc and go into the options, I can select boot options (F9) and there choose the Notebook Upgrade Bay and windows boots successfully. The system seems to be unable to boot on its own.

What am I missing? Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

The HDD is not the problem. Prior to installing the SSD, there was an OS on the HDD, and it worked fine, The OS on the HDD even detected the SSD once installed. The diagnostics on the BIOS also pass fine. So am pretty sure the HDD is not the issue.

Is there some BIOS setting I am missing? Swapping out the HDD for the SSD is an issue since it is a university system and I am not allowed to do so.

Thanks,
JR
