Hi all, today while I was working with my notebook, a Hp Pavilion 15 b020el, suddenly it froze for several minutes. Got the problem I turned it off by holding the power button (I already did that other times in the past without any subsequent problem).
When I restarted it it started doing some sort of "beep" sounds and then it appeared the screen saying "Boot device not found... Please install an operating system on your hard disk... Hard Disk (3F0)".
So I ran the system diagnostics by pressing f2 and did the quick hard disk check which had as a result:
Smart Check: Not installed
Short DST: Not installed

(memory check turned out to be okay)
I got that the problem is associated with the hdd but what could it be? Thanks for your answers.

Hi, Would try next to go into the BIOS of the Laptop, reboot and keep pressing DEL as it starts up. Should get you into the BIOS. Then go look in BOOT menu and see if you can see your HD.

Have you a 2nd drive installed also?

Also try the simple things, do you have a USB stick plugged in? It might be trying to boot from that if you have.

Process of elimination really.

Worst case is that the HD has died.

Need more info on what type of HD is in the Laptop, SSD, HD or M.2?

I went to the bios and I dont think it actually sees thr hdd but I'm not sure about that. I've just a 500 GB SATA (5400 rpm) hard disk and about the usb I had just the wireless mouse plugged. After having it unplugged nothing changed tho.
