Booting Issue

Hey gang, i have a weird situation.

I swapped out a CPU in my little brother's computer, The CPU that was in there (and originally working) was a P4 3.0 gig 630 LGA 775 CPU, and after i swapped it out with a Pentium D Dual-Core 820 LGA 775 CPU, it wouldnt boot.

Basically all that would happen is when i hit the power button, it would power the fans for about a second, then power off, then it would loop this until i killed the power.

The BIOS is updated to accept either of the CPU's that i am dealing with in this case...

So i tried putting the original P4 back in and i am still getting the looping-boot issue.

I thought it could have been my PSU or another component, but i swapped the PSU, Vid card and even a different P4 of the same kind and still nothing, i am getting the same results each time.

The only thing that i will mention is the memory, i have a 4 X 1 GB set of G-Skill DDR2-800 PC6400 and i did not try to remove 2 X 1GB to see if it was perhaps the memory... i was running out of time, lol.

Anyone out there have this experience or something similar? any help would be great! thanks for your time...

BUMP* ANyone that could help me on this?

I tested each individual RAM stick last night, i used each one in slot 1, and still no POST.

As of right now, i have the MoBo battery out to clear the CMOS and i will try again after a few days...

thanks again

Thanks for a sign of life! :)

I have already gone through ALL the steps here and everything is as it should be. I will tell you that i did indeed try ALL of the RAM individually in ALL 4 Slots, i also tried it in pairs and all 4, none worked.'

I will also tell you that not one time since this has been happening has the beep indicator sounded off on my MoBo and there is a speaker installed, it worked 4 days ago...

I donno, it seems i have to start with just the PSU/MoBo/Cardboard trick...

OK, a little update, i put the CPU and fan/HS on the Motherboard and plugged the PSU in, still the same issue.

I tried 2 different PSU's and 2 different CPU's so it seems that the Motherboard is dead.

One thing that may be weird (or not) is that when i had the CPU and fan/HS in the motherboard and plugged in the 24 pin connector, the PSU fan and fan/HS fan would work fine and continually flow, but there were still no beeps from the motherboard speaker... When i turned it off and tried with the 4-pin CPU connector as well, i would get the same results as i originally posted meaning that the PSU would get stuck in a booting loop...

Any thoughts here, could it be that both CPU's are dead, or is the Motherboard completely dead?
