Booting problem

So I recently bought a bunch of upgrades for my computer and I am having some problems.

When I install 2 sticks of the same memory the computer will not boot and it keeps restarting for no reason. I can switch what sockets they go in and still nothing. I put them both in black slots, nothing. I put them both in the blue sockets and still nothing. I even went out on a limb and tried mix-matching the sockets...still nothing. So then I thought, well lets try one stick. Vuala!!! It worked. My first thought was the RAM was bad so I tried a completely new set of RAM. Still the same problem. I don't know if it is a RAM issue or a motherboard issue. Does anyone have any insight?

You said you tested 1 stick and it worked? Did you test the 2nd stick? How about in different slots? It sounds like a bad slot or a bad stick.

I tested both sticks in all sockets. It works every time. Just when the second stick in added to equation the problems occur.

Use 1 stick of memory, update the bios to the most current, if it still happens RMA the motherboard.

I just had memory problem 4 stix only 2 recognisable

I pulled all out tried switching them , problem persisted,

powered off took out cmos battery waited 5 min also took out ram , reinserted ram

2 stix in red slots first then 2 in black slots , reboot all fixed.

( not saying that fixed it, its just what I done )


Even for me when I placed ram in black slots just got black screen.

what op system and how much ram ? in bios / system can you see installed ram ?

P.s I am noob when it comes to PC just forwarding what helped myself maybe it can help you.

pss my bios is not the latest available either that wasn't the problem for me, unless you changed you motherboard cant see why it would be problem for you if everything worked fine before.
