Does anyone know how to fix this? I t happens on boot and pressing F1, F8 or delete does nothing. Note it is boot mCr not boot mGr; and no I don't want to take it to a shop.

Solution
Well miracles do sometimes happen; I moved to jumper again to clear the RTC RAM and hey presto it booted up! so first I set the BIOS and then loaded Win10 and all seems ok - so far. Thanks for your help anyway. So it was a combination of flat battery from standing and clearing the RTC RAM (no idea what that is anyway, just getting ideas from the manual).

Just looked it up and now I know; if I'd done that when it first appeared I'd have probably guessed where to go.
Er..never heard of boot mcr. You sure it's not just boot mgr with a pixel or two missing?
Anyway, have you tried putting in windows install disk and doing windows repair or boot mgr repair?

Make sure your boot sequence checks your usb or dvd drive first. Also, don't start multiple threads.

Yes I'm sure and neither motherboard or system discs do anything.

Ah sorry saw the f1 and f8 but not delete. Have you tried unplugging the hdd from your mobo (or psu) and starting then? Just to see if you're able to access bios then. If not, then something is wrong with your mobo and you're best off contacting its manufacturer if within warranty. If yes, then we can proceed with how to go around fixing your drive.

Unplugged all anciliaries and removed video card - nothing. Yes I think it's the mo'bo' 'cos it's the only thing I didn't already have from my old PC; so I bought another exactly the same as the one I have but I believe it was used - and I didn't get round to doing anything with it for must be 2 years! So this morning I bought a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 REV1.0 and I'll put all my best bits on that and the rest on a second one.

No no, don't remove gpu, you won't see anything unless you have integrated graphics. I also would have suggested trying resetting bios first (taking out the cmos battery and putting it back in), but I guess if you skipped ahead, just see how it goes with the new board.

Yes it does have intergrated graphics and a jumper to reset the BIOS. Even when it did work at first it sometimes did use the Quadro 4000 somtimes not; Various bits didn't seem to be working right from the start. Had no trouble at all when I build the 1st 2 so I do think it's a duff mo'bo'.

I reset the BIOS again, unplugged everything then plugged in my new SSD and Win10 install dongle and after throwing up the BIOS lauch photo after a few seconds it runs through som DOS ending F1 setup F8 defaults the chose a drive to start but nothing after that and just a flashong hyphan then nothing.

Yeah that means it cannot find a drive to boot up from. Your new ssd is empty, and for some reason it's not reading your usb dongle at all. Make sure you plug it into a usb 2.0 port and not 3.0 port. Sometimes 3.0 won't work without drivers.
Also, you made sure your usb drive was bootable before installing the win 10 iso on it?

I changed the battery 'cos that was dead, and yes I was in USB 3.0 so moved to USB2.0; I have Win10 on flash and disc so put them both in, then I tried the Mo'bo' load disc - still nothing! as sain it goes
F1 setup
F8 Defaults
Checking NVRAM

nothing!?

The boot was set to load from Flash, CD and HDD but whether it saved that with the knackered battery I don't know. Has done so far, but I'd have thought it shoild start on the mo'bo' disc if nothing else?

If the battery was low, yeah it would have been resetting every time so might not have been booting from flash. But afterwards, if you went into bios and checked, it should remember it. However, checking nvram message suggests that it is not so, as it would indicate your cmos battery is dying or dead.
If you just changed it for a new one, and you're sure it's in there correctly and it's full, then something is off with the mobo. You're sure the battery is the same size and model/make?
