Alright, here goes.
My SSD was full so I decided to try to clone it onto another drive and use that one instead. I used a HowToGeek guide throughout the process and it suggested I used Macrium Reflect. I put the software on a USB since it wouldn't let me clone onto a drive that was being used by Windows, changed my boot settings in the BIOS to boot from the USB, and successfully copied my C drive's contents onto my G drive. As suggested in the guide, I then went back into the BIOS and set the computer to boot from the G drive, and Windows booted up fine. However when I looked in Windows Explorer, there was a System Reserved partition visible, and a minute or so later everything closed and I got an error message along the lines of "Windows could not turn on". It let me go to safe mode so I did, and that was completely stable and didn't turn off. I tried installing the mobo drivers via disk, but it gave me errors and told me that it couldn't execute the .dll files.
I switched back to the Macrium Reflect software on my USB and ran its Windows boot fix on my drive, but it didn't fix the issue. I kept on fiddling, trying to boot with different drives attached and running the boot fix on my original drive.
Right now, for some reason I'm getting the "Bootmgr is compressed" error and won't let me boot any of my drives. I have a USB, my Windows 8.1 OEM installation disk and all of the drivers I need.
Any suggestions on what to do here?
tldr:
edit to anyone else reading this: wiped new drive of the clone using the windows install disc then installed a fresh copy of Windows. Using that new copy I formatted the old drive.
