Borderlands 2 freezing few seconds after loading in?

Title sums it up, but for borderlands 2 I spawn in and then after a few seconds the game freezes and I have to close out of it with task manager. In the task manager it says the game is unresponsive.

Doesn't happen in other games.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!
my specs:
CPU: i7 3770k @ 3.9
MB: ASUS Maximus V formula
RAM: 2 * 8GB @ 1600Mhz
GPU: 980TI SLI
PSU: 1000W corsair Gold rating
Hard Drive: 1 TB SSD boot drive with game on it.

I turned Phyx too low and it fixed the problem! must be a problem with the game :/
