Discussion Bose Gaming headset finally revealed

I've been waiting for these for the handy mix of both ANC wireless headphones and good gaming headphones (not bothered about gaming wirelessly).

What is strange though is you have to plug them in for for gaming to use the mic, but it still uses the battery because of ANC?? It says when the battery dies it still works but without ANC, but doesn't mention if you turn ANC off it doesn't drain it at all.

Suppose we'll get an official review sometime soon!

It looks like it uses a separate USB DAC thing that looks like a hockey puck for the mic as well as feeding audio to the headphones. That's why the mic has a 3.5mm jack on it. So there's no power from the computer to power the ANC.

Seems like a weird design oversight if I ever saw one.

Bad design, "wireless" but if you want to use the mic it's wired. Plenty of other headsets fully wireless, and very few gamers are fans of Bose products. Not sure what the market is here, 60 yr old rich people getting advice from non-tech people on what to buy as a gift for their grandkids for gaming?
