Both my 20 and 24TB Western Digital G-Technology SSD raids aren't reading on my laptop anylonger! I went up to Best Buy last week and bought new cables (apple $140!!). My 20Tb worked for a few days editing my video, but the same problem happened as last week, right before I added my last edit!! First, video playback became choppy, then the drive just wouldn't read on my laptop. Seems like the cables are shorting or burning out? Plus, every now and then, my 2020 MacBook (USB C) would shut down due to unexpected power surge. Has anyone had this experience before? I read this post from Garett_4 here on Tom's from 2015 about replacing something like fuses? PCB swapping u12 or u5 chip, but couldn't find it again. If that's what I need to do, where would I begin to find a place to replace said PCBs?
Driving an hour today to the Best Buy to replace cables again and try to get my money back for the first ones. Really could use some advice.
I have three films on these hard drives and Western Digital has been less than helpful.
