Bottlenecking the 6950

Right now I'm using the phenom II x4 @ 2.6ghz. Would I bottleneck a 6950? Im okay with OCing but would like guidance in that area. Thanks.

There's a high probably of a bottleneck but even a "worst case scenario" it won't surpass a 15% bottleneck. I would OC your CPU to 3.0GHz and get a Cool Master Hyper 212+ CPU Cooler - Economical cooler with a "true and tested" design.

Is your CPU a Black Edition? If so it's pretty easy, see this guide. If it's not a Black Edition your going to be pretty limited.

No it's not a black edition. It's a phenom II x3 that I unlocked the fourth core, and running at the stock 2.6ghz

What games are you running or do you want to run? There are only a few cases in which you wouldn't bottleneck with a setup like that.

You're going to be stuck overclocking with the FSB which will not get you far sadly.

ok great even i have a gigabyte mobo so shouldnt be too much of a problem upping your cpu clock... please list the rest of your config as well for me to get a better idea for helping you on ur overclock
