Hey guys I bought GTX 1070 Asus Dual today to replace my GTX 670 in my older system. So I changed the cards plugged in the PCI power connectors put the disc in to install the software and drivers, connected it to my monitor using DVI (I previously used a VGA cable with an adapter which fit my 670 but doesn't fit my 1070), I then boot up my PC and notice that I'm in a low resolution. I check to see if I have Nvidia Control pannel and I didn't, then I checked Device manager and it says my video card is this: Nvidia Video Controller(Vga Compatible) (ASUStek computer Inc). So I thought maybe I was missing the drivers even though I put in the software disc and checked 'Install Drivers'. I then head over to Nvidia's website and download the latest drivers and it's been stuck on 'Installing Graphics Driver...' for an hour now. The only thing I can think of which I can't try is using a VGA cable to my monitor as I don't have an adapter for my graphics card.

Here are my system specs:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit
CPU: i5 3570k @3.4
Monitor: Acer P235H
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Current GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual 8GB
Previous GPU: Gainward GTX 670 2GB

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Most likely a bug. You may have to restart the driver install process.

Some users use programs like DDU(displaay driver uninstaller) when swapping cards as well. You first uninstall the drives in add/remove programs(also called programs and features and can be found with start search/Cortana) then restart and use DDU(many do it in safe mode. I have had no issues in normal mode myself).

After all is clean install the latest from Nvidia. I have the same card and it should work fine.

I think you're right, the install proccess just completed but probably took much longer than it should because it was uninstalling all of the older drivers maybe? But it's working fine now, thanks for your answer.
