Hello everyone. i have just bought Amd FX 8300 cpu. But when i installed it the pc wont boot. There is blank screen on the monitor. Also when i turn on the pc with the new cpu installed, it shows red light below the cpu.

My old processer (FX 4100) works just fine on the motherboard. But the new one doesnt.

I have even tried resetting the bios but to no avail.

I desperately need your guys help as to what should I do to make my PC run again.

CPU - AMD FX 4100(OLD) FX 8300 (NEW)
Motherboard - ASUS M5A99FX R2.0 with UEFI BIOs version 2501
GPU - MSI 1050 Ti
Memory - Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 4GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit running at 1333mhz
Hard Drive - 1TB Western Digital WD10EZRX Caviar Green

Thank You for your time and any help that you may provide!

Solution

I think you might be dealing here with a faulty CPU itself. Motherboard should boot with it without any problems since BIOS ver. 1006,
and according Manufacturers Specs - the CPU is supported and confirmed working since that revision.
FX-8300(FD8300WMW8KHK,3.2GHz,8C,95W,rev.C0,AM3+)

FD8300WMW8KHK is an OEM/tray microprocessor
FD8300WMHKSBX is a boxed microprocessor with fan and heatsink

with these the only variants i found. Do revise and stepping of your CPU to confirm. ( rev.C0 )

Since u confirm it working with your FX-4100 and both have 95W TDP rating // consumption on full load, unlikely that its a power-issue. Nothing is above suspicion, does not hurt to test.
Bend pins or missing pin maybe , carefully check the downside of your CPU if there is irregularities or holes in the "rows" of pins.
Couldn ´t hurt to reflash just in case with the latest version again, but should not be needed.
Seldom, i witnessed memory with a certain cpu to be picky. Do try to test with similar rated memory ( 1333Mhz first then 1600 Mhz rated ) borrowed from a friend.
Failing that : Do apply for the CPU´s warranty if there is no indication for physical damage. You should be covered in case of a manufacture defect.
