Just like the title suggest, I bought one and just slapped it on. I didn't do a full format or check for bad sectors. I am offloading 500 GB right now to it so I can disable one of the HDDs till I find my cases mounting brackets

Will it be fine if I run WD Data Lifeguard tools after the fact? If Data is written on bad sectors, will it remove that data? What will it do with bad sectors? the 500 GB I moved over is of little consequence to me btw but I definitely don't want to delete and recopy again unless absolutely necessary

Yeah fresh off newegg. I don't have another drive to back it up to. I actually bought it to backup one drive, to offload media files from my main gaming HDD (8 year old Samsung HDD), and to backup my gaming files to it. it's supposed to act as my megaback up drive and media files.

A "backup" is a second copy of data.
Not the "only copy".

Yeah thats what I am saying. 1/3 of the data is on other drives. the rest of the 2/3 will be not backed up as I don't have anywhere else to go to lol. I'll run sector tests on different tools. These should mark bad sectors and isolate them yes?
