Hello toms hardware. Last night was a late night for me and I was buying parts for a basic gaming rig for my friends birthday. Everything went smoothly except for one thing. I bought the wrong power supply. The wattage was correct but its not bronze certified which concerns me a bit. Here is the one I bought: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Here are the specs of the system i'm building for him:
XFX 7850 1gb
Fx 4100
Wb 320gb hard drive
4gb of rip jaws ram.

It's a pretty decent budget build, my intention is to get him into pc gaming and stop being a console peasant. So the question remains, should i return the PSU or keep it? I've never bought a Psu like this before so i'm a bit sketched out. \

Thanks a lot :]

My bad, Here's the fixed link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438038

The 7850 is older tech and the suggested psu is 450w

I do not know about the quality of the EVGA 400w unit, but it has enough power leads to do the job.
Still, it does not seem to be very good quality.
Since you will be operating near capacity, I think I would return it in favor of a tier 1 or 2 unit from this list:

A psu is the one part that you should not compromise on quality.

A similarly priced Antec VP-450 would be better

Seasonic is one of the best:

Bronze efficiency is fine, and there is little benefit from modular.
