Heres my current rig:

CPU: i5 - 4690k
GPU: GTX 970
Ram: 16GB (4 x 4 1333mhz)
Mobo: MSI z97 gaming 5

I have to play advanced warfare on medium settings and it STILL lags during loading screens... any suggestions? Is it the game or is my rig really unable to run COD AW?

Solution
It's definitely not your spec, it's the game, but make sure you use the latest Nvidia drivers, and try betas too. Also make sure your audio driver is updated too.

First off, the game is a RAM hog, so disable any background programs you can and reboot before playing to free up RAM. Also disable desktop composition and themes via the game's shortcut (right click shortcut, properties, compatibility).

Try running in Windowed Borderless mode vs Fullscreen, and try it with and without VSync. For some this has greatly decreased or eliminated cutscene stutter. It may only stop or minimize the audio part of it though, as the out of sync video on load scenes seems to be specifically a memory leak problem with the game.

If you continue to get...
How many times do I need to remind you that I own a Swift and a High end Samsung PLS display.

I don't just talk, I have experience.

Have a look a look at my profile pic, the swift is on the left and the the 970d is on the right....

Clearly you're not listening and I don't enjoy repeating myself, I'm not sure why you're bringing up this topic a month later.

I think we should end this discussion because it's not benefiting the OP...

LOL, just bought one maybe? You started out only referring to your "friend's" Swift.

And I'm sorry but too many times you have implied this mere TN panel can keep up with the IQ of a decent IPS. If you actually OWN an IPS or PLS display and you can't see that, you need your eyes checked.

Acer is debuting a 256x1440 IPS 144Hz display in March though, which has your holy grail GSync. Maybe then they'll have actually come of age vs just hype.

And I got the thread popping up in my inbox because it had been responded to. Stop your whiny attempts at lame backseat moderating. It's not for you to say when a topic is dead.

I feel your pain, I have contacted activision support multiple times about this issue. The gamne seems to be using all of the cpu when it is not needed. I have an i7 4790k at stock speeds and sli gtx 970. This game is just a CPU hog when it does not need to be

I'm also playing @ 1080p on max settings apart from sun cache and the other one, how ever i get a major frame rate drop whilst playing some times, not all the time random map random time into game. Some times straight away some times after 3 hours.
im running on:-
i7 4930k 6 core 3.4 x 6 (3.9ghz turbo speed)
evga geforce gtx 780 stock clocks
32gb ripjaws z ram
ssd hard drive
so personally i think the game itself needs fixing

I'm pretty sure everyone keeps putting the super sampling on. That basically takes your resolution and times it by whatever number you set it to. So if you are playing on 1080p and have it set to 16x, it is going to render everything 16 times 1080p resolution. Keep super sampling off or adjust it to a low setting that your graphics card can handle.

Bro, i think thats a common problem in COD games since the release of COD Ghosts, I was having the same problem in ghosts and now in ADW. At first I thought that there is some problem with my rig, but when i searched on net for these issues, every one had the same problem. so dont worry abou ur RIG its out-doubt awesome. Just Disable Supersampling and (Sync every frame). Set grafix to auto, this should work but unfortunately ull see some jagged edges most often while playing the game.

My Rig
i7-3770K
16GB (2133mhz)
Gtx 760 OC
MSi z87

I gave up on playing Advanced Warfare because no matter what I do it won't run smoothly. I have a AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz (overclock 4.4GHz), 32GB of RAM, Asus R9 290x 4GB 512-bit GDDR5, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD SATA III 3-D. I can play BF4, BF Hardline, Crysis 3, Titanfall, GTA 5, all these games at Max setting and run flawlessly. I just can't run Advanced Warfare even on lowest setting. It lag horrible on campaign and multiplayers. I have to throw my hands up in the air and throw the $40 game into the trash can. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare can ONLY be play by Advanced Computer like the Super Computer. I would not buy another Activision future game.

Smooth as butter for me, Best Call of Duty I've ever played...
