Bridging two wireless networks

Can one computer have two wireless adaptors to connect to two wireless networks (one private and the other public)?

I know about ICS. Here is some more information about what I am trying to do. I have a laptop that is using its built in wireless adaptor to connect to a LAN. I want to use another wireless device (a bar code reader) with the laptop. I do not want the wireless barcode reader to be connected to the LAN. I only want the barcode reader to connect to the laptop on a subnet. I was wondering if I can run two wireless adapators on one computer. One for the LAN connection and another for the independent barcode connection. Any thoughts?

Emerald - I am using Windows XP Pro (32-bit) for now. I will be using Windows 7 Pro 64-bit by the end of this year.
