broken scroll wheel

i dont know what happened but the scroll wheel on my mouse broke so now it scrolls freely but it does not pick up that im scrolling the mouse

Most of the time this is from lint wrapping around the axle and blocking the sensor. The wheel is an opto-mechanical device like a ball mouse, where a LED shines through the spokes of the scroll wheel to register movement on the sensor on the other side. Block the spokes and it cannot measure movement.

ok what can i do to fix it

Take it apart and clean it. Just be aware that some mice require destroying the feet to do so.
