Just recently got a new Brother MFC-L2900DW laser printer and having some issues with scanning. I have the printer installed, installed the full driver and software package from Brother's site. The printer is connected to wifi and am able to print to it from any computer I installed it on. Can also scan using the brother iprint and scan program from computer. Where I am having issues is I can't scan directly to a pc from the printer control panel. Trying scan to file from printer touchscreen, it does recognize any computer on the network, no matter what I select I get an error on pc, its a little popup notification in bottom right of screen saying scan error, make sure settings are correct.
In the brother iprint and scan program on pc, when I go to machine scan settings, says I need to complete this setting to use scan function on control panel of machine, I click on setup and it says to install additional software, additional software is required and to download and install full driver and software package. I have already done that. During the installation process, I even installed paperport which is an additional piece of software and that didn't help.
One thing I haven't done and that is update the firmware. Not sure if that is something that would help with this. Always been leary of firmware updates as I have had bad experience in the past with firmware update.
Something I noticed while digging through settings. On the windows printer and scanners page, when I go to the brother printer and go to scanner settings and click on scanner properties, there is only one scanner listed and that is the old scanner. When I go to add device, the only manufacturer listed is microsoft. Now this is on a wired desktop. On a laptop connected to wifi, it shows brother printers but the 2900 is not listed.
